Michael-Shawn Dugar, Daily News sports editor

The Daily News is making changes to the sports department beginning today. We will be cooperating much more closely with the Lewiston Tribune. Their veteran reporters will be providing most of the Idaho Vandals and WSU Cougars football coverage in the Daily News and online this fall. My new role will include covering high school sports for both the Daily News and the Tribune, while assisting with college football and basketball reporting on both universities, primarily on game days. I will gain the freedom to sprinkle in some in-depth features here and there for your reading pleasure. I remain the Daily News's sports editor although I'll be doing more writing over a broader range of topics.

Tom Hager, who has covered Washington State and Whitman County preps, will move to the newsroom to write about K-12 education on the Palouse.

Thank you for the support over the years. We hope it continues as we work through these changes.
