The University of Idaho Faculty Senate is recommending UI provide health insurance benefits to the domestic partners of its employees. Senators approved the proposal after a brief discussion about its wording, but no faculty member in attendance expressed disagreement with the policy's intent - to treat employee spouses and partners equitably. ... College and university students across the country are wearing empty gun holsters this week to protest campus firearms bans. Students for Concealed Carry organized the protest. The national organization was founded after the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings, which gun rights advocates say could have been stopped if students had been allowed to carry guns on campus.
