Raul Labrador will defend his seat in Idaho's 1st Congressional District in the May 15 primary against Republican challenger Reed McCandless, a Moscow resident who says his disdain for the current political climate compelled him to run.
"I'm really surprised that it's now," said the 50-year-old truck driver, who withdrew from his architecture studies at the University of Idaho to run for the U.S. House of Representatives. "I'm really reluctant as most people would be to do that, but it's either a yes or a no. You can't kind of, sort of. ... I guess it's just a feeling that you have inside that's hard to explain."
