WSU football player arrested for alleged DUI

Posted: Thursday, January 31, 2013 12:00 am

A Washington State University football player, running back Leon J. Brooks, was arraigned on a charge of driving under the influence in a court appearance Monday in Colfax and is scheduled to enter a plea in District Court on Feb. 7.

A Whitman County Sheriff's deputy reported that he pulled Brooks over for making a wide turn at the intersection of Monroe Street and Stadium Way at around 3 a.m. Sunday, and after smelling alcohol and administering field sobriety tests arrested Brooks for investigation of driving under the influence. Two breathalyzer samples provided at the Pullman Police Department registered blood alcohol content of .088 and .092, the report said. A BC of .08 or higher is grounds for a DUI charge in Washington state.
