After five years of salary freezes by the state, Washington State University faculty and staff will receive a 4 percent across-the-board salary increase funded by the university, WSU president Elson Floyd announced in his blog Wednesday.

The raises, which take effect Jan. 1, will cost WSU $11 million per year. WSU interim provost and executive vice president Dan Bernardo said the salary increases will put WSU on par with other higher education institutions in the country.
