Convicted sex offender Steven Sitler was the subject of a special progress report from the Idaho Department of Corrections to Latah County 2nd Judicial District Court Judge John Stegner Wednesday after Sitler reported driving through a residential area and catching sight of a woman in a bikini in front of one of the homes. ... Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy will not charge Washington State University's star safety, Shalom Luani, with assault, as recommended by the Pullman Police Department.

Latah County Sheriff Wayne Rausch would like to remodel the county's dispatch center, but said it won't make any sense if the Sheriff's Department does not have a full-time receptionist. Rausch asked the Latah County commissioners Wednesday to approve funding so he can hire a receptionist. ... An architect estimated it would cost about $58.1 million to build a new high school, Pullman Superintendent Paul R. Sturm told school board members during a planning session Wednesday. That's about $2.6 million more than it would cost to renovate the existing school, built in 1972.

A Washington State University student was arrested Friday afternoon on charges of allegedly stealing a mountain bike worth nearly $4,000. ... A University of Idaho student was shot in the jaw Thursday with a BB or pellet, Moscow Police said Friday. The 21-year-old man was walking in the Wallace Complex about 1:10 p.m. Thursday when he was shot. He suffered a superficial wound to the jaw.
