Retired University of Idaho professor of philosophy and coordinator of religious studies Nick Gier is holding a series of classes called "Bible for Liberals," with the next class scheduled for Wednesday.

The class was originally for members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse, but is now open to anyone who may be interested. The first class was Oct. 4.

Topics of the classes include the three-story universe, Old Testament polytheism, the Hebrew Goddess, abortion, the real meaning of sodomy, sanctuary cities, Old Testament prophecies, feminism in the New Testament, the messianic titles and the inspiration of the Bible. Suggestions will also be accepted from participants.

After this week, classes are every Wednesday until Nov. 15. The class is held in the yellow house next door to the Unitarian Universalist Church, located at Second and Van Buren streets.
