Moscow High School will offer an introductory course on firefighting starting in the fall.
The course will be a collaboration between MHS and the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department and will be offered to high school seniors as a way to give them a head start on a career in firefighting.
MVFD Chief Brian Nickerson said the course has already generated interest among staff and students. He said if the class is a success, the future could include the MVFD working with MHS to offer a larger program of classes, including leadership courses and emergency medical technician training.
The Moscow School Board approved the new class during its regular meeting Wednesday.
