Pullman Regional Hospital is planning a roughly $3 million project to expand its facility to include 10 additional rooms for outpatient procedures.
PRH Director of Marketing Megan Guido said as health care trends toward an more outpatient procedures, the hospital needs to increase its capacity to meet demand.
"We would increase our same-day service patient rooms that we currently have, and we have 12 right now, to 22," said PRH Director of Marketing Megan Guido. "It's basically accommodating a growing need for space to perform those types of outpatient procedures."
The plan, Guido said, is to build a 10,000-square-foot addition to the back of the hospital in 2018, with the facilities completed and ready for patients by the end of 2019. Guido said the hospital hopes to begin accepting bids for the project by February, with an aim to break ground in April.
"We estimate it to be about a $3 million project," Guido said. "It's through our own operations that we plan to finance this, as well as fundraising that has taken place through the foundation."
The Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation raises money for advancing community health and hospital improvements through donations.
Guido said the hospital's current facilities are smaller than would be ideal. The expansion will offer improved working conditions as well as increase the capabilities of hospital staff, Guido said.
"The rooms will be bigger and provide a more restful environment, and more space for our staff to work in and be more quiet," Guido said.
