MOSCOW

Staff report

Two of the four people injured in a head-on collision at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the Pullman-Moscow highway in front of the Palouse Empire Mall were life-flighted to a Spokane hospital, according to Moscow Police Capt. Roger Lanier.

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, Lanier said it appears a Toyota Camry with three passenger drifted from the eastbound lane into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Fiesta. Lanier said officers have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Lanier said Monday two women in the Camry were life-flighted to Spokane with internal injuries, and a male in the car was transported by ambulance to Spokane for several broken bones. All three were listed as critical condition, Lanier said. The man driving the Fiesta was transported to Gritman Medical Center and later released, Lanier said.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage and were towed from the highway, Lanier said.
