A $1 million renovation will be shown off Monday when the University of Idaho Swim Center reopens to the UI and general community. The center was closed for the summer so the renovations could be completed.

This summer's work included renovation of the pool's two 25-yard pools with tile and gutter restoration, as well as pool deck tile replacement.

During the 2016-17 academic year, the swim center saw heavy traffic through classes, swim competitions, swim lessons and general fitness and recreation, totaling 40,000 users, 1,200 swim lessons and 30 lifeguard trainings, according to the UI. The center employed 50 UI students.
