Dr. Edgar E. Renfrew, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Lock Haven, Pa. He was born April 8, 1915, in Colfax, Wash., to Earl and Elsie MacKenzie Renfrew.
His wife, Geneva, predeceased him. He is survived by his daughters Karen Conner of Calabash, N.C., and Paula Ekstrand of Sahuarita, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his older brother, Dr. Malcolm M. Renfrew of Moscow.
Renfrew grew up in Potlatch, where he attended grade and high school. He was a graduate of the University of Idaho and earned a doctorate from the University of Minnesota. He was an academic honorary Phi Beta Kappa and a scientific honorary Sigma Xi. Renfrew was also a member of the social fraternity Phi Gamma Delta.
As an industrial chemist, he authored 66 U.S. patents and a variety of articles for scientific publications. The family suggests memorials be given to the Ross Library in Lock Haven, Pa., or the charity of your choice.
