I moved to Moscow a little over a year ago, and I've attended Christ Church and completed my freshman year at New Saint Andrews College.
I have watched article after article come out targeting those affiliated with Christianity. Headlines that specify a Christ Church elder made an investment, and side notes that make it clear that it was two Christ Church members attempting to start an auto shop downtown raise a serious question: Just because I'm a Christian, am I not allowed to make an investment? Am I not allowed to open a business? And if I do, why does that mean it will be a sanctuary for rapists?
I'm not sure where all of you stand religiously, but next time you call an entire group of people rapists based on one horrifying event, ask yourself how you would like to be classified in the same way because of someone else's disgraceful choices. Where does this classification become discrimination, and why is Christianity the only group that discrimination is allowed against?
You shout your tolerance to the world and in the same breath you are intolerant of those who disagree with you. You call an entire group hateful and in the same breath you call them "rapist sheep." How is that not a hateful statement? And again I ask, why is Christianity the only group that is a safe target for this kind of slander? Would you say this about your Muslim neighbor? Your atheist co-worker? Where lies the difference?
I will happily accept responses and explanations of this phenomenon to my phone: (360) 927-6146. Feel free to text me, or leave a message if I don't pick up. Talk to you soon.
