Letter to the Editor

On Feb. 27, a press release was issued by Barrett Schroeder, former chair of the Latah County GOP, announcing his candidacy for District 5 State Senate. He issued a press release that was sensational, defamatory and possibly slanderous.

It was aimed at the local tea party, Continental Congress, a local militia group and Palouse Liberty Project.

He says, "Idaho and the United States are facing real issues today, issues of our financial strength and competitiveness in the world, and we need real conservative solutions."

Yet he focused on bashing the above and defending The Southern Poverty Law Center.

Are these the important issues facing us today? What about unemployment, taxes, fuel prices, wolf problems and upcoming elections?

He stated, "If we are at war with ourselves, we will fail." Yet he seems to be at "war" with his own party, and hostilities are emanating from him with his statements.

As a conservative Republican tea party member I am disgusted by his statements. I cannot support a person who claims to be a conservative and acts like a liberal Democrat. Please don't be fooled.
