Lia Galdeira made history Thursday night, becoming the first Washington State women's basketball player to be selected in the WNBA draft. Galdeira was selected 19th overall as a second-round pick by the Washington Mystics.

Galdeira played for the Cougars from 2012-2015 and quickly emerged as a go-to scorer. Her 1,710 points rank second all-time on WSU'S career scoring list.

Together with Tia Presley, Galdeira formed a stellar 1-2 punch. The duo helped turn the program around, leading WSU to the Women's National Invitation Tournament in 2014 and 2015.

In the summer of 2015, Galdeira decided to forego her senior year and played last season in Bulgaria for Haskovo 2012. Nevertheless, in just three years Galdeira managed to earn two all Pac-12 selections and an all Pac-12 defensive team selection.

The Mystics finished 18-16 last year, finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference.
