GIRLS BASKETBALL

TROY — Kelsey Jensen canned a 15-footer with less than a minute to play and later went 1-for-2 at the foul line Thursday night as Genesee edged fast-closing Troy 48-46 in a Whitepine League Division I girls basketball game.

Kaylee Flodin grabbed an offensive rebound after Jensen missed her second free throw, and the Bulldogs ran out the clock, squelching Troy’s comeback from a nine-point deficit.

“We needed a game like that,” Genesee coach Greg Hardie said. “It seemed like we’d been winning by quite a few points or getting blown out ourselves. Troy played hard the whole time and I’m just glad we were able to gut it out.“
