Storm Cellar moves
to larger location
The Storm Cellar in Moscow is getting a bigger place.
Austin and Laura Storm are moving their consignment shop of nine months to the old Goodwill location at 504 S. Main St., a building four times the business's current location down the street.
Needing more space, the couple considered moving into the building as soon as it became available.
"At the very last minute it all fell into place," Laura said.
The walls of the vacant building are currently decorated with cartoon characters and word bubbles alluding to the presence of a new business. The characters were drawn by a friend of the Storms', local artist Mark Beauchamp.
The couple hopes to decorate the building to give it the same feel as its current location and utilize notes they have taken from scouring similar stores in the Portland area. Renovations to the building include a new ceiling and floors. Fitting rooms are also being built.
"I am so pumped," Laura said.
Along with an expanded retail section, the couple hopes to offer more furniture and larger items they currently don't have room for as well as locally made goods.
The Storm Cellar's current location will close Sept. 28-30 to allow for a weekend moving procession thanks to a team of friends. The Storms don't plan on loading a moving vehicle, but rather packing items by hand down the street to the new location.
The business will open in the new building Oct. 1.
The shop currently has over 750 cosigners and has sold more than 12,000 items since its opening.
The Storm Cellar is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 212 S. Main St. in Moscow. For more information, visit the business on Facebook at www.facebook.com/moscowstormcellar.
