With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, some additional attention has befallen her herd of corgis.

I understand the appeal. They are sort of like a troupe of circus clowns coming out of the miniature car. Their short legs and regular dog-shaped head make them seem to be in perpetual motion, what with their fur jostling about. Their color is one that is cute and cuddly on stuffed pet toys, so it all works in concert.

Following the Queen’s passing, some reporters, no doubt bored out of their minds over endless processions of a coffin flying back and forth to Scotland, started to ask, “Hey, what about those squatty little dogs?”
