The Anheuser-Busch Foundation announced it will donate $50,000 to the University of Idaho to support sustainability and water conservation efforts associated with growing barley.
The donation will support research at UI on Low Elevation Spray Application. The application style moves sprinkler irrigation closer to the ground and can save growers as much as 20 percent on water and energy, according to a news release from the foundation.
The foundation also donated $50,000 to Montana State University to support the same research efforts. Idaho and Montana are the top two barley producing states in the U.S., according to the release.
