A man reportedly found a stack of 13 counterfeit $100 bills in the snow Tuesday afternoon between Sunset Mart and Rocky Mountain Research Station on South Main Street in Moscow, according to Moscow Police Department Capt. Will Krasselt.
Krasselt said the man turned the bills, which had Chinese characters on them, into Latah Credit Union around 3 p.m. An officer responded to the bank.
The Pullman Police Department warned local businesses Tuesday to look out for similar counterfeit bills circulating around the community after a counterfeit $20 bill with Chinese writing on the front and back was reported Monday afternoon at Sunset Mart in Pullman.
PPD Cmdr. Chris Tennant said he does not believe it is a widespread issue, and Krasselt said Moscow police haven't had any other reports of counterfeit money.
