Several Latah County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Deary Junior-Senior High School and Bovill Elementary School on Tuesday because of an alleged student threat to “shoot up” the Deary school.
Sheriff Richie Skiles said deputies learned the threat, which was allegedly made by a 12-year-old Deary Junior-Senior High School student, was made last week once they arrived at the schools.
The Deary school was locked down, but the Bovill school was not, Skiles said.
He said deputies contacted the student and he denied the threat.
The school district superintendent reported the threat, Skiles said.
Although the alleged threat was only toward the Deary school, deputies responded to both schools because Skiles said the student lives in Bovill and both schools fall under the Whitepine Joint School District.
