A Pullman man accused of raping a woman inside his apartment was convicted by the Whitman County Superior Court jury.

Matthew Hyatt, 22, was convicted of third-degree felony rape, felony harassment with threat to kill, two counts of misdemeanor furnishing liquor to a minor and a misdemeanor assault with sexual motivation, according to Chief Deputy Prosecutor Dan LeBeau. The trial began Monday in Colfax, and after deliberation, the jury found Hyatt guilty of his crimes Wednesday.

Pullman police arrested Hyatt in July 2022 under suspicion of raping an 18-year-old woman. LeBeau said Hyatt met the victim at a local establishment in Pullman before bringing her home and raping her inside his apartment.
