The occupant of the Moscow home that was destroyed in a Tuesday evening fire is being assisted by the American Red Cross, according to Moscow Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brian Nickerson.
Nickerson wrote in a news release that the home at 528 East Third St. is considered a total loss. Nobody was at the home when the fire occurred and there were no injuries.
The MVFD and the Moscow Rural Fire District responded to the fire just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. The fire was contained to the second floor with water damage to the basement and first floor.
A fire investigation revealed the fire was accidentally caused by “improperly discarded smoking material” on the second floor deck of the home.
