Gail Hofstrand, of Moscow, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Aspen Park Healthcare in Moscow. She was 86.
Gail was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Spokane to Edson and Irene Pugh. She grew up and attended school and graduated from high school in Harrison, Idaho. She was working as a secretary for the family business, Pugh Lumber Co.
There she met a young foreman at the company, Arland D. Hofstrand. They married in Harrison on June 15, 1952.
Following their marriage, they moved to Corvallis, Ore., for Arland to complete his education.
They moved to Moscow where he accepted a position at the University of Idaho. Gail was a homemaker, and later earned her degree from UI. They were active in area churches, most recently at Trinity Baptist in Moscow.
She was a member of the Moscow Garden Club and ran Hofstrand Haven Nursery for many years and after retirement, enjoyed traveling, especially on various cruises.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Arland, in 2010, and two brothers, John and Chad Pugh.
Surviving are her children: Gary (Sharon) Hofstrand in Spokane, Brian (Nataliya) and Mark (Debra) in Moscow, Sue (Ed) Harris, of Tacoma, Cheryl (Mark) Reasner, of Kalispell, Mont., and Judy Hofstrand, of Moscow.
She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Moscow Charter School or the Moscow Garden Club.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church in Moscow.
