Michael Martinez

Michael Martinez, 81, passed away in the early morning of Sunday, May 14, 2023, at his home in Phoenix. Mike was born in Salida, Colo., on Jan. 19, 1942, and his family later moved to Salt Lake City where he attended school. He graduated from West High in Salt Lake City where he was captain of his wrestling team.

He met and married Diana Moser in 1962 and recently they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In 1966, they moved to Moscow and then settled in Genesee in 1970 where Mike worked as Assistant Manager at Genesee Union Warehouse. He was very active as a booster at Genesee High School while supporting his kids in the various sports they played as well as coached baseball during the summers.

Mike’s biggest joys were spending time with his family and serving in his church and community. He served on the City Council and was later elected as Mayor of Genesee in 1986 and again in 1990. Mike retired from Genesee Union Warehouse in 2004 and moved to Phoenix where he worked part time as an accountant at Moser Marriott, PLCC in Scottsdale, Ariz.
