The University of Idaho has hired Parker Executive Search to head the hunt for the school’s next athletic director, UI announced Tuesday.
The organization is described as a national search firm that specializes in intercollegiate athletics.
“We understand the sensitivity and urgency of finding a coach or sports executive,” the firm’s website reads. “That’s why we complete most coach searches in 10 to 14 days and can complete executive searches in four to five weeks.”
UI President-designate Scott Green initiated the search with the firm, which will arrive on the Moscow campus this week to gather input from faculty, staff and students.
Among Parker Executive’s clients are the Tennessee Titans, the USA Olympics team, University of Washington, University of Oregon, University of Notre Dame, NC State, Vanderbilt University and the NCAA itself.
The firm has assisted the latter organization in filling dozens of executive positions over the past decade.
Pete Isakson has been serving as the interim athletic director since late last August. He replaced Rob Spear, who was fired two weeks prior “for convenience” by the State Board of Education, which took into account the UI’s “inadequate” response to reports of alleged sexual harassment during the 2012-13 school year.
Spear will be paid through Feb. 17, 2020, per his contract, but that amount will be offset by income he receives in his new job as director of the Idaho Falls Auditorium District.
