LIBBY, Mont. — The Moscow Blue Devils rallied late with a seven-run fifth inning to edge out the Mission Valley Mariners 8-7 at the Libby Big Bucks Tournament.

The Blue Devils were scoreless and had not recorded a single hit as they trailed 6-0 through the first four-and-a-half innings of play. All four Moscow base hits came in that fifth inning, with C.J. Anderson and Hayden Thompson doubling back-to-back before Peyton Waters and Kyle Lynas singled.

The Blue Devils improved to 11-6 on the season and 1-1 thus far in their Libby Big Bucks campaign.

Rock Creek Waves 7, Palouse Patriots 6

A Rock Creek Waves rally upended the Palouse Patriots in the Palouse Summer Series pool play at Pullman High’s Martin J. Quann Field.

The Patriots led 6-1 through the top of the fifth inning, but a five-run showing from the Waves tied things up at 6-6 before Rock Creek mustered a winning run in the seventh.

Cougars break even

EAST WENATCHEE — The Whitman County Cougars split a pair of nonleague games on the road, falling 7-5 to Eastmont before bouncing back with an 18-7 victory over Wenatchee.

Josh Greene had three base hits including a double in the second game.

“It’s a long ways to get up here but definitely worth it,” said Whitman County coach Pat Doumit, whose team is now 8-5 on the season. “Good competition, beautiful venue, nice to win the second one.”
