The Idaho Supreme Court has upheld that the state’s abortion bans are constitutional, with two justices dissenting. In an opinion, a 3-2 majority denied requests to block Idaho’s three abortion bans in Planned Parenthood v. State of Idaho, which combined three challenges to the laws into one case. In a summary of the opinion, the court states it cannot support the conclusion that the right to abortion is protected in the Inalienable Rights Clause, in the territorial laws of Idaho, or the state Constitution. ... Thanks to an excellent performance by guard Lia Galdeira, the Washington State women’s basketball team ended a 36-game losing streak against Washington with a 82-80 victory Tuesday night in Pullman. The last time the Cougars beat their cross-state rivals, on Feb. 25, 1995, Galdeira was less than a year old. She’s a sophomore now, but she played like a seasoned veteran. ... Students returning to Moscow High School from winter break found some of their classes moved across the street to the 1912 Center, a former school. During the holiday break, a water supply line burst at the high school, causing flood damage to the science wing, band room and some locker rooms in an older section of the building. Principal Erik Perryman said the facilities crew has been instrumental in getting the rooms repaired for students to return. The flood brought along water, dirt and mud, and loosened the floor tiles in some of the rooms.
