2016 One year ago today

The Potlatch School District may be making do with its aging high school for the time being after voters rejected a $14.78 million bond levy that would have financed the design and construction of a new structure. ... The Pullman branch of Spokane Falls Community College won't be shutting down at the end of the semester as many had feared. Just how long it will stay open, however, remains to be seen.

2012 Five years ago today

Excavation work started at the site for Moscow's intermodal transit center Thursday with construction slated for completion in mid-October. Ginno Construction of Coeur d'Alene began work at the site on Sweet Avenue and Railroad Street on Friday, said city community development director Bill Belknap. ... The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport can soon begin its environmental assessment for the runway realignment project, after Washington State Department of Transportation officials agreed Thursday to accept an alternate route for a future highway bypass.

2007 10 years ago today

A record number of Pullman High School students are taking Advanced Placement exams this week, hoping to earn college credits or test out of college prerequisites for coursework completed during high school. In the past, only about 30 students per year have taken the tests. This week, 140 tests were given. ... The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport plans to purchase a new handicap passenger lift and a new snowplow with a $1 million federal grant it is slated to receive from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Washington's first presidential primary, being staged Tuesday to a chorus of yawns, was designed to give the region more clout and make the candidates pay attention. But with fewer than 1 in 5 voters expected to participate, the primary already is branded as a fizzle, the biggest political dud of '92. ...
