ASOTIN — The Cougar Creek Fire reached the 14,000-acre mark Thursday as it moves through the Blue Mountains. Containment is estimated at 26%, according to the latest update.

The Gooseneck Fire in the Dry Hollow area, about 15 miles southeast of Pomeroy, remains active and has burned 1,582 acres.

A wildland fire that broke out Wednesday about six miles of Clarkston has been contained, according to an Asotin County Fire District Facebook post. Asotin County Fire Incident Commander Paul Wik said he appreciated the surrounding fire agencies that jumped in to help, as resources are stretched thin.
