Two-day gathering will feature delegate selection, platform discussions and projects

Hundreds of Idaho Democrats will gather over the weekend in Moscow for the 2024 Idaho Democratic Party State Convention.

More than 300 delegates who were elected at the May 23 Democratic presidential caucus will travel to the University of Idaho to help build the party platform and elect delegates to attend the Democratic National Convention, according to the party website.

The event runs today to Sunday and includes workshops as well as committee hearings and delegate selection. This morning, there will be a breakfast hosted by the LGBTQ Democratic Caucus of Idaho; tickets had to be purchased in advance.

In the afternoon there will be a platform committee hearing and presentations on economic messaging and fundraising.

On Sunday, there’s a state central committee meeting and service project planned, where delegates will assemble summer kits of books and snacks for kids over the summer. In the afternoon, the platforms and resolutions committees will meet and there’s a session on “strategies for meaningful dialogue with the other side.”

The convention for the party platform will go from 2:30-6 p.m.

The Idaho Republican Party Convention took place June 13-15 in Coeur d’Alene; delegates selected Dorothy Moon to serve another term as chairperson over her challenger former Sen. Mary Souza, the Idaho Press reported.
