Christmas for Kids applications now open

Christmas for Kids applications are now available online at christmasforkidsmoscow.org and at the Hope Center, 1212 Pullman Road, Moscow. Families in need of assistance providing gifts are encouraged to apply.

Christmas for Kids is a nonprofit organization started in 1982 in Moscow. The organization provides clothing, toys and books for children. Those interested in volunteering can visit christmasforkidsmoscow.org.

Daily News discussion today in Moscow

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News will have a “save local news” public discussion led by the newspaper’s editor and publisher, Nathan Alford, at 5:30 p.m. today at Hunga Dunga Brewing Company, 333 N. Jackson St., Moscow.

The session is open to subscribers and nonsubscribers age 30 to 45. Reservations can be made online at bit.ly/3PUURs8.

UI Common Read keynote address Tuesday

The University of Idaho Common Read keynote address is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the International Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center, 709 Deakin Ave., Moscow. The address is free and open to the public. The common read is “The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier and More Creative” by Florence Williams.

Williams is a journalist, author, podcaster and contributing editor at Outside magazine. She is also the author of “Breasts: A Natural and Unnatural History” and “Heartbreak: A Personal and Scientific Journey.”

Emmanuel Lutheran in Moscow to install pastor Sunday

Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Moscow will install pastor Sierra Westerman at the service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at 1036 W. A St., Moscow. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. The Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Northwest Intermountain Synod Meggan Manlove, of Nampa, will preside over the installation and preach.

Westerman grew up in Wenatchee and went to college at Whitworth College in Spokane. She moved to Moscow in August after several years in Minnesota. For more information about Emmanuel Lutheran visit elutheran.church.
