Nature challenge start today across the Palouse

The Palouse Conservation District and the city of Moscow have teamed up to support the 2024 City Nature Challenge: Palouse Region. The City Nature Challenge is an international effort to document nature that will take place today through Monday. Nearly 700 cities from seven continents will participate in this year’s event.

To participate, residents are asked to find wild (not captive or cultivated) plants, animals or fungi anywhere in Whitman or Latah counties. Take a photo and upload the observation to the iNaturalist app. Scientists both locally and across the world will use these observations in biodiversity data to increase our understanding of species patterns globally. Observations will count toward the Palouse Region project in competition with communities across the globe. More information can be found at palousecd.org/city-nature-challenge.
