Potlatch teacher receives Idaho Technology Association grant
Potlatch School District teacher Brianna Burkgart received an Idaho Education Technology Association grant for $1,649 to purchase a new interactive whiteboard for her classroom. Burkgart was presented with the award at the IETA Conference in Boise.
Pullman church to offer class during Lent
Community Congregational United Church of Christ will have a five-week Lenten class at 5 p.m. every Thursday starting Feb. 22 at the church located at 525 NE Campus St., in Pullman. The class will have a showing of “The Historical Jesus: The Evolutionary Challenge of a Mediterranean Jewish Peasant” featuring John Dominic Corssan. The series is presented by the Homebrewed Christianity and Westar Institute.
The series is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided and discussions will follow the video. The classes are scheduled for 5 p.m. Feb. 22, Feb. 29, March 7, March 14 and March 21. For more information on the classes visit crossanclass.com.
Registration open for Palouse Alternative Cropping Symposium
Registration is open for the Palouse Alternative Cropping Symposium online at palousecd.org and the deadline to register is Sunday. The symposium is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds in Colfax. There is a $5 registration fee and lunch is provided. There will be farmer focused programs with presentations from area growers and networking breaks.
Local groups receive Avista Foundation grants
Three local organizations have received grants from the Avista Foundation to support arts, culture and the environment. The Washington Idaho Symphony received $1,500, APOD Productions received $3,000 and the Latah County Historical Society received $3,500. The fourth-quarter grants were awarded to 28 organizations across Washington, Idaho and Oregon. The grants totaled $152,000.
