A 41-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning on Jefferson Street in Moscow after officers say they caught him attempting to burglarize a vehicle.

According to court documents, Moscow Police Officers arrested Darrell Lee Christopher after receiving a report from a woman on Dolly Drive who said she witnessed a man dressed in all black break into three of her vehicles around 3:30 a.m.

Officers responded and attempted to contact Christopher as he walked through bushes on Jefferson Street. A short foot chase ensued, but Christopher was quickly caught. A screwdriver and a bag full of change were found in his pocket.

Seven vehicle prowls, including four with broken windows, were reported in the area of Julie, Rodeo and Dolly drives on Monday. According to court documents, Christopher admitted to breaking into six vehicles and stealing change to support his drug habit.

Christopher has been charged with five felonies for burglary and possession of stolen property, as well as four misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 21.
