Motorhome, two cars burn near Palouse

Palouse Fire Chief Mike Baggott uses a heat detector to ensure there are no hot spots after a motorhome and two cars burned outside a home at the intersection of state Route 272 and Swanson Road on Wednesday west of Palouse. Firefighters from Whitman County Fire Districts 4, 11 and 12 responded to the fire. Investigators from the Pullman Dire Department were called in to assist, as the cause of the fire appears to be suspicious in nature, Fire District 12 Chief Lester Erwin said. A fire, also of unknown causes, destroyed an abandoned trailer near Potlatch on Sunday.
