William Ruchert, of Anatone, will be honored with an open house from 1:30-4 p.m. next Saturday at the Asotin Lions Club, 118 Second St. The occasion is his 90th birthday.

He was born July 4, 1934, in Pomeroy to Herman and Ethel Marie (Young) Ruchert. He attended school in the Mayview area before moving to Lewiston and graduating from Lewiston High School.

After serving in the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged and then farmed for a time in Garfield County in the Pomeroy area. He then went to work for the Washington State Highway Department, transferring to Clarkston with the department, and retired from there in 1995.

He and Diana Meyers were married in 1956 in Clarkston. They later divorced.

After retirement, he moved to Anatone and has kept busy raising cattle with Dennis Moss.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoys spending time with and traveling with his companion, Julie Swank.

He has one son, two daughters, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

His family will be hosts for the celebration.
