“Murder in Big Horn,” a Showtime Original

A three-episode series that investigates the disappearances and unsolved murders among Native peoples in the United States. The show starts when three bodies are discovered in Big Horn County, Mont., the most dangerous place in the country for Native American women. As it happens in these cases of missing Native peoples, they are dismissed, ignored, ruled accidental and go unsolved.

“Eileen” a film based on the book by Ottessa Moshfegh

A psychological thriller starring Thomasin McKenzie and Anne Hathaway. Eileen, played by McKenzie, lives a dreary life, going between her father’s depressing home haunted with the past and her job at a prison. She is ostracized by her co-workers and when a woman joins the prison staff, Eileen feels hope for salvation for her life. This glimmer of hope entangles Eileen in a shocking crime and plot twist.

“Plan C” a film by Tracy Droz Tragos

A documentary based in the time between 2020 and 2022 and the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The movie follows a group of women, doctors and midwives fighting to protect and increase access to abortion pills. Plan C, launched in 2014 as a project to spread the word about access to abortion pills online and now 10 years later not only has the reach of the internet exponentially increased but so has the legal access to abortion.

“Sabrina Sue Loves the Moon” by Priscilla Burris

Sabrina Sue is a chicken who loves the moon. In fact, she wants to go there. One day she hitches a ride in the back of the farmer’s truck and makes her way to a rocket. Zooming far from earth Sabrina finally gets her wish.

“How to Go Hiking” by Jean Reagan, illustrated by Lee Wildish

A boy and his uncle buy new hiking boots, pack the essentials and go hiking for the first time. A fun-to-read adventure about hiking that touches on the joys of nature and the hazards of new boots. This “Step Into Reading” book, Level 2, is great for children who can read with help.

“Baking with mi Abuelita” by Julissa Mora

A heartwarming story about baking and tradition. Three little girls help their grandmother bake their father a birthday cake, a tres leche cake. Sprinkled with Spanish words, counting and lessons like patience, this book provides an engaging way for children to practice reading with a little help. And then, they will probably want to make a cake.
