Allen Ramstedt, a lifelong resident of Moscow, passed away Oct. 29 at Latah Health Services.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, in 1906 to Victor Ramstedt and Alma Olson, he attended Moscow schools. After graduation, he attended the University of Idaho and graduated with a degree in business. After college, Allen went into business with his father and eventually became the owner of Creighton's until his retirement in 1982.

Allen met his wife, June, at Wright's soda fountain under the old Moscow hotel. He walked her home that evening. They then courted until their marriage on May 26, 1935.

Allen served his community in many ways. He was a member of the City Council, Kiwanis, Tau Kappa Epsilon, the Moscow Elks and the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he was a board member.

Allen enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Allen is survived by his wife, June, of Moscow; a daughter, Joan Norby, of Rupert, Idaho; a son, Jay Ramstedt of Bellevue, Wash.; a sister, Agnes Hawkins; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

His two sisters, Ruth Peterson and Lucille Goranson, preceded Allen in death.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Short's Funeral Chapel of Moscow. Memorials are suggested to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Moscow.
