When an organization is working to supply beds for hundreds of local children, it has a big shopping list. Clarkston residents, Walmart and a couple of “Ghostbusters” fanatics chipped in to provide Pullman nonprofit Blessing Beds with the supplies it needs. The Clarkston Walmart and local not-for-profit Confluence Valley Ghostbusters helped Blessing Beds organize a fundraiser where people could donate bedding materials at the front of the store. Misty Gludt and her husband, Dana Gludt, started Confluence Valley Ghostbusters with the goal of helping local nonprofits raise money and resources.

Amelia C. Warden believes death is a natural process that, like all other natural processes, is beautiful. Warden hopes to highlight that in her latest photography project, which involves photographing the bones and other remains of animals. Warden, who recently asked for the public’s help with her project when she posted an ad on Craigslist titled “Wanting to photograph animal skulls,” said her photos are a way of paying tribute to animals, and she hopes her work helps viewers to appreciate wildlife. ... Washington State University announced that professor and alumnus Yong Wang was awarded the American Chemical Society’s annual Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Division fellow award. He is a researcher in catalysis and reaction engineering for energy and renewable fuels and chemicals. Wang earned a master’s degree in 1992 and a doctorate in 1993 from WSU, both in chemical engineering.

Todd Miller and Amy Davis came to the Latah County Courthouse on a “leap of faith.” The Puyallup, Wash., couple made the 300-plus-mile drive to Moscow Wednesday for their leap year wedding, which they both joked meant they would only have to celebrate their Feb. 29 anniversary every four years. Miller and Davis have worked together at the Korum Ford dealership in Puyallup for 14 years, and have been together for nearly 10 years. Washington requires a three-day waiting period once a marriage license is issued to tie the knot, but Idaho doesn’t. As it happened, Miller lived in Moscow for eight years, and it was the perfect opportunity to come back and visit with friends — and get married, of course.”It was either now or in four years,” said Davis. “We said, ‘We’re taking todayoff.’ ” ... The Moscow School District is seeing an increasing number of young students who have diabetes and is planning to hire extra help to care for those children at lunchtime. Moscow School Board members approved a district proposal to hire a part-time nurse assistant for the remainder of the 2011-12 school year for an estimated cost of $3,500.
