Dr. Richard G. Hannaford passed away at the age of 62 on Friday, June 20 after an eight-year battle with melanoma.
Dick, as he preferred to be called by those that knew and loved him, was a professor of English at the University of Idaho for 33 years, educating and enlightening many.
Dr. Hannaford was born in West Seattle on March 27, 1941. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dr. Mary Hannaford; his four children, Geoff Hannaford, Leza Pal, Dean Cafaro and Edward Hannaford; his grandchildren, Natassja Pal, Niko Pal, David Cafaro and his littlest buddy, Taylor Hannaford; his daughters-in law, Tara Hannaford, Sheri Cafaro and son-in-law, Sunil Pal; and his two sisters, Norma Rader and Barbara Theiss.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at Merchants Funeral Home, 1000 Seventh St., in Clarkston, Wash. Please call Merchants if you need directions at (509) 758-2556.
