The annual Phillips Farm Fall Festival is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Virgil Phillips Farm County Park, located 5 miles north of Moscow on U.S. Highway 95. There will be cider pressing, horse drawn wagon rides by Milt Moore, live music and more.
The festival is free to attend and will have nature activities for children and other fall activities. Lunch will be available for sale. Music will be performed by Owen McGreevy, Allison Anders and Al Chidester.
The festival is sponsored by the Avista Foundation. Kathy Dawes, vice president of the Friends of Phillips Farm, said the sponsorship was to assist in covering the costs of putting on the festival. Dawes said the festival hasn’t had a sponsor in years but had previous sponsorships from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.
New signs were created with funds from the Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation. The signs cover native plants and points of interest around the farm. Brochures about the farm will be available and include updated trail maps. Dawes said there will also be three new informational kiosks.
Virgil Phillips Farm is 160 acres and includes a pond, wetland area, hiking trails and multi-use trail for walking and biking created by the Moscow Area Mountain Biking Association. The park is managed by the Latah County Parks and Recreation and was given to the city by Virgil Phillips to benefit children and for recreation.
