Farmers renting crop and pasture lands saw increases in cash rent expenses this year, according to a recent news release from the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
In Idaho, cash rent expense for all cropland was estimated at $197 per acre for 2023, up $3 per acre from last year. Non-irrigated cropland rent expense is $66 per acre, up 50 cents from a year ago. Pastureland cash rent expense also went up 50 cents this year to $13 per acre.
In Washington all cropland rental expenses are $238 per acre for 2023, up $21 per acre from the previous year. Non-irrigated cropland rental expense is $76 per acre, down 50 cents from last year. Washington producers paid $9 per acre for pasture rent this year, up $1 per acre from last year.
Non-irrigated cropland rent expenses per acre in Clearwater County this year are $56.50; in Idaho County $74; $86 in Latah County; $89 in Lewis County; and $87.50 in Nez Perce County.
Washington rental expenses for non-irrigated crop land in Asotin County are $59 per acre; $68 per acre in Garfield County; and $93.50 in Whitman County.
