A storm system that is pulling frigid air from Canada into eastern Washington and northern Idaho brought some parts of the region their first snow of the season Wednesday.
Snow accumulation was relegated to high elevation areas such as Lolo Pass on the Idaho-Montana stateline and Palouse Divide east of Potlatch. Tamarack Resort near Donnelly reported 4 inches of new snow and Brundage Mountain near McCall received 2 inches.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for much of Idaho County and a large area in northwestern Montana and a winter weather advisory for Clearwater County and higher elevation areas in Latah County.
Temperatures in north central Idaho and southeastern Washington are expected to top out in the 40s today, according to the National Weather Service at Spokane.
