Funding given to seven groups that empower women’s and childrens’ health and wellness

The Pullman Regional Hospital Women’s Leadership Guild has awarded $14,000 in grants to several local nonprofits.

The awards are a part of its annual Grant Award Celebration event. The guild has raised and gifted over $286,500 since it was established in 2015, according to a news release.

Grants were given to organizations that empower women’s and children’s health and wellness. According to the news release, seven nonprofits received $2,000. They were Circles of Caring Adult Day Health, Family Promise of the Palouse, Palouse Discovery Science Center, Palouse School Food Pantry, Pullman Child Welfare, United Way of Whitman County and YMCA of the Palouse.

Circles of Caring Adult Day Health will use the funds for client appreciation projects and Family Promise of the Palouse will fund health services for women and children, according to the release.

Palouse Discovery Science Center will use the aid for its mudskippers educational program for young learners, Palouse School Food Pantry will fund nutrition supplies and funds will help the grandparents caring for children at Pullman Child Welfare, according to the release.

United Way of Whitman County will fund the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and YMCA of the Palouse will create calm-down centers at after-school programs, according to the release.
