Moscow announces water flushing dates in October
The city of Moscow will be conducting water flushing between 7:30-3:30 p.m. Monday through Oct. 20 throughout the city. The flushing is required for the maintenance of the pipes and remove build up of iron flocking in the pipes. Drivers should use caution when driving through the areas being flushed.
The flushing locations are:
Main Street west to city limits between D Street and Taylor Avenue on Oct. 9-10.
D Street north to city limits between Almon Street and Polk Street and from Taylor Avenue south to Palouse River Drive including the frontier addition on Oct. 11-12.
Sixth Street north to city limits between Polk Street and Mountain View Road, including the Fort Russell District on Oct. 12-13.
Sixth Street south to the Troy Highway and east to Mountain View Road, including the Indian Hills addition is scheduled for Oct. 16-17.
Everything east of Mountain View Road from the north to the south of city limits is scheduled for Oct. 18-20.
Residents are encouraged to run cold water for 10-15 minutes before running hot water for several minutes to ensure the lines are clear. Residents with water softeners or whole house filters should perform a maintenance check.
Those who have water discoloration or do not see an improvement after running cold water should call the city of Moscow Water Department at (208) 882-3122.
Pullman High orchestra to have fundraiser Oct. 21
The Pullman High School orchestra will have a Disney and Desserts Fundraiser Night at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Pullman High School, 510 NW Greyhound Way, Pullman. Tickets cost $5 for youth and seniors, $10 for adults and will be available at the door. Payment is accepted in cash or check and all tickets include a dessert.
The orchestra will be performing and there will be costumes. All proceeds will benefit the orchestra’s trip to Disneyland in April. The trip is part of the Disney Imagination Campus Experience where the students will perform and attend a professional Disney workshop.
Spooky Trails return to Whitman County
The Garfield and Albion Libraries and the Whitman County Parks Department will have Spooky Trails at Elberton Hiking Trail throughout the month of October.
Spooky Trails combines early literacy learning, family engagement and physical activity.
The Elberton Hiking Trail will feature “The Hunt for Bigfoot” with facts and information about the cryptid. Participants are encouraged to sign the guest book located at the trailhead before starting. For more information visit whitcolib.org.
