Pet pictures with Santa today in Pullman

Whitman County Humane Society will have pet pictures with Santa from 1-3 p.m. today at Pets are People Too, 1670 S. Grand Ave., Pullman. Digital photos will be available for a suggested donation of $15 and all proceeds will go to the humane society.

WSU Press holiday book fair Wednesday

Washington State University will have the 32rd annual holiday book sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Terrell Library Atrium on the WSU campus. The fair will have discounts from 30-50% on all titles, drawings for free books and refreshments. Sale prices will be valid on phone or online orders made Monday through Dec. 11 using the coupon code HBF2023.

Featured titles in the sale include “Boyhood Among the Woolies,” “Coyote’s Swing,” and “The Evergreen Collection.”For a complete list of titles visit wsupress.wsu.edu. The WSU Press was founded in 1928 to focus on stories about the Northwest.

Open primaries initiative to be presented in Viola

Veterans for Idaho Voters member Barry Johnson will give a presentation on the open primaries ballot initiative from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Viola Community Center, 1007 Rothfork Road, Viola. The presentation is open to all voters and will include light refreshments and petitions to sign.

The presentation will cover what the open primaries initiative is and how it will allow Idaho voters to vote in all elections no matter party affiliation. The presentation is supported by a coalition of community groups which includes the Idaho Chapter of Mormon Women for Ethical Government, North Idaho Women, the Hope Coalition, Reclaim Idaho and Republicans for Open Primaries.

Meeting to discuss Pullman School District levy

The Pullman League of Women Voters will have a presentation on the upcoming Pullman School District levy and a question-and-answer session from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the Hecht Room of the Neill Public Library, 210 N. Grand Ave., Pullman. The annual cookie exchange will happen during the meeting. Attendees are welcome to bring their own cookies to exchange.

UI program coordinator receives fellowship

University of Idaho International Program Coordinator Mimi Kestle was selected to receive a 2024-2025 NAFSA Representation, Inclusion, Support and Empowerment fellowship.

Kestle is one of 11 selected from international education professionals across the United States. The fellowship is a two-year, fully funded professional development opportunity for international educators from underrepresented backgrounds.
