Symphony announces 52nd season, chamber performance
The Washington Idaho Symphony will begin its 52nd season at 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Administration Auditorium on the University of Idaho campus in Moscow.
Tickets and season passes are now available online at wa-idsymphony.org. During the remodel at the Gladish Center for the Arts in Pullman, some performances will take place at the UI auditorium.
The Oct. 8 show will feature “Purple Mountains,” by Shuying Li, a Chinese American composer. The piece tells the story of the Nanking Massacre in China during World War II. Other songs performed are “Tehom el Tehom” and “Procession of the Nobles.”
A chamber performance is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Silverthorne Theatre at the Lewis-Clark State College campus in Lewiston. The performance will feature artists from the symphony. For more information visit wa-idsymphony.org.
Moscow Human Rights Commission plans workshop
The Moscow Human Rights Commission will have a restorative justice workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the LeCompte Auditorium at the 1912 Center, 412 E. Third St., Moscow. The workshop will be led by Cari Fealy, the associate dean of students at the University of Idaho and Shane Hyde, a vocational rehabilitation counselor at the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
The workshop will cover the foundations of restorative justice circles and practice building community and healing negative impacts of harm through circles. The workshop is suited for all individuals and groups.
Moscow City Council candidate forums in October
The League of Women Voters of Moscow will have two candidate forums from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5 at the Great Room of the 1912 Center, 412 E. Third St., Moscow. The Oct. 4 meeting will feature the Moscow City Council candidates and the Oct. 5 meeting will have Moscow School Board candidates. Clearwater Memorial Bridge lane closures begin
The construction on the Clearwater Memorial Bridge in Lewiston started Monday. The construction will close two lanes, leaving one lane in each direction open for traffic. The sidewalk on the east side of the bridge will remain open until early October. The work will widen the lanes, shoulders and sidewalks as well as repair the bridge to allow for use by heavier and wider loads. For more information visit itdprojects.org/us12memorialbridge.
