Moscow announces fall burning season
The city of Moscow has announced the 2023 fall burning season will run from Sunday through Dec. 15 for garden waste, tree trimmings and brush only. All burning should be done at least 25 feet from any building, structure or other combustible material for piles three feet or less in diameter and two feet or less in height. Any piles larger should be 50 feet from a structure, building or other combustible.
Burning is not allowed on public land and after dark. Anyone burning should have a garden hose with water or other fire extinguisher on hand during burning and piles cannot be left unattended during burning. No construction material, leaves, grass trimmings or garbage containing paper products is allowed. Burning will be ordered to stop if the fire chief or designee on duty determines the smoke emissions are offensive or is hazardous or the air quality forecast determines a ban.
