Students take home awards at Jazz Fest

Students from the Emily Raasch Voice and Piano Studio and Troy High School received honors at the 52nd Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival this weekend in Moscow.

From the Emily Raasch Voice and Piano Studio, Clem Binniger was named winner of the Elementary Vocal Solos Alto and Joshua Nelson was named winner in the category of Junior Instrumental Solos Piano.

Representing Troy High School, Nelson was also named winner of the Senior Vocal Solos Tenor category. Morgan McCully of Troy High School was named runner up for the category of Senior Vocal Solos Alto. More than 4,000 students from 130 elementary, middle and high schools participated from around the region, including schools from Montana, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, and Canada.
